I know the baby weighs more than 1 pound, 2 ounces because that was the weight last week. I know that I said I think it is a boy last week now I think I have to take that back. Shane and I looked at some of my baby pictures last week and the nose also looked a little like mine when I was born. So, I am back to square one. I have no idea!!!!! I can tell you that he or she is moving around like crazy. If you believe that baby can hear everything like it says below the baby heard the Cardinals win the World Series.
I just had the BEST WEEKEND ever!!!!!! I can't say why. But just trust me it was THE BEST.

Your Baby: Body Heat
Your baby weighs 1 pound, 2 ounces (530 g) and is 8.4 inches (21cm) tall. She can hear everything now, and also has a sense of equilibrium. She can tell the difference of what would feel upside down as opposed to right side up, even in such a small amount of space to move around! Now that she's almost completely formed, your baby will build up body fat to help her retain heat.

I didn't want to post them all on the same. Here is another one of the baby. I know you all might think this is crazy but I think it is a boy.
The picture below is outlined to help you see the baby.

We got a few things put together for the babies room and I thought I would share.

Changing table....

A beautiful crib!!!
Some of you may remember this crib was Brendan and Nicholas Allen's.

Double click on the picture to make it bigger.
To the right is an old fashion ultrasound of the baby's face. Turn your head to the left and you can see it better. The eyes are the black spots. The round thing under the babies head is the tummy.

This picture is of the babies arm and hand. The babies hand is making the shape of a "C"

Here is our first 3-D ultrasound. It was a really cool experience. The ultrasound tech said everything she could see looked good. The baby was not in a good position for her to check all of the heart. She was getting pretty frustrated and called our baby “Stubborn” it must be a boy. She couldn’t get head on for the 3-D of the face but this one is pretty good. The baby has its hand up to its forehead (like The Thinker). Below I have outlined key features to help out. The pictures look better in person so next time you see me ask to see the pictures.

Your Baby: The Beginning Of Braxton Hicks

Your growing fetus weighs in at around 1 pound (450 g) and measures 8 inches (20 cm) in length. His body is well proportioned, but it still slender, with little fat. He's also sporting new developments from head to toe: his fingernails are almost completely developed; meconium, the baby's first bowel movement, is forming in his intestines; and the lanugo that covers his body is darkening. You're probably feeling a lot of movement and may even notice some early, relatively painless contractions, called Braxton Hicks. Don't worry -- these contractions don't mean you're going into labor, and your baby is unaffected by them.

Your Body: Striations Of Sorts
It is during this part of your pregnancy that there will be no question from physical appearance that you are carrying a baby with you! You are growing and with this growth may come stretch marks. The majority of women that go through a pregnancy will tell you that they got stretch marks on their abdomen. Some women also get stretch marks on their breasts, hips and buttocks. The skin is being stretched by the growth of the baby and enlargement of your breasts in preparation for breastfeeding. There are lots of lotions on the market for treating stretch marks, but, although they may smell and feel good, they don’t work. There is not really anything you can do to prevent stretch marks. During your pregnancy they may appear red, brown, or even purple but once the you deliver they will fade and turn a more silvery shade and won't be as noticeable.

This is 22 weeks and the baby only weight a pound. If you look at how much Shane and I weight when we were born this kid is going to be 9-10 pounds. I can hope for a nice 7-8, but I am not holding my breath.

Look the baby looks like a baby!!!

Your Baby: The Eyes Have It
Your fetus weighs about 12-13 ounces (350 g) and measures 7.5-8 inches (19 cm) in length. Your baby is really starting to look like a baby now! Now the fetus's senses are becoming more defined with taste buds being complete. Additionally, the nerve endings have been developed enough at this point for the fetus to feel things using her hands. If you could watch, you would see more movement and even to the extent of feeling other parts of her body. The baby has complete eyebrows and eyelids now.

Three posts in one day. Shane and I have almost made the leap into the 20th century. We have a new computer. It is an IBM ThinkPad, and it seems like a very nice computer. One of my coworkers said it is a nice computer. (Thank you Craig and Denise) Our next big step is to get the internet for our house. Shane is really pushing for this not me. But, I think it would be nice to have when I am home with the baby. So, I can still contact everyone via email. Now I just need to figure out what is available out in Pevely as far as internet services.
Welcome to the world Alex Kinser.
He was born today 10-13-06 at 7:33 am
6 lbs and 3 oz
19.5 inches

How exciting.... Angie is doing well!!! Alex just couldn't wait to be born so he came 2 weeks early. I can't wait to meet him.

What it says about you if you are born on a Friday...
FRIDAY:
Friday's child is loving and giving.
You are caring and sharing.
You are kind, you love people, and people love you!

I swear my life isn't TV. I just have two posts in a row about a TV I watched. Last night Amy Sedaris was on My Name is Earl. It was great. She played a "Cat Lady" that Earl's brother Randy liked.

I watch the new show 30 Rock last night. It was funny. The show doesn’t have a laugh track (Matt you would like that) so it was strangely quiet sometimes. But, I think it will make it. I hope so. I loved Alec Baldwin’s character he was very funny “5 inches but it’s thick”, Shane’s favorite was of course Tracy Morgan. He was pretty bummed when Tracy left SNL. Anyway if you missed it watch next week on Wednesday at 7 pm.

ABOUT
Emmy Award winner Tina Fey (NBC's "Saturday Night Live," "Mean Girls") writes, executive-produces and stars as Liz Lemon in NBC's "30 Rock," a workplace comedy where the workplace exists behind-the-scenes of a live variety show. The show is told through the comedic voice of Fey and features Alec Baldwin ("The Aviator," "The Cooler" ) as Jack Donaghy, the brash new network executive who has turned the show upside down with his meddling ways. The single Lemon is living every comedy writer's dream - head writer on a demanding, live TV program in New York City. Her life is jolted when Donaghy interferes with her show, and bullies Lemon into convincing Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan, "Saturday Night Live," "The Longest Yard") -- a wild and unpredictable movie star -- to join the cast. Now Lemon must manage the unmanageable so that the show -- and her dream -- can go on. Also rounding out the cast in the half hour comedy are: Jane Krakowski ("Ally McBeal" as Jenna Maroney), Scott Adsit ("Kicking and Screaming" as Pete Hornberger,) the variety show's producer, Jack McBrayer ("Arrested Development" as Kenneth the Page,) the over-eager NBC Page -- a highly sought-after entry level position with the network, and Rachel Dratch ("Saturday Night Live" in multiple roles). "30 Rock" is executive produced by Lorne Michaels.

Week 21
Your Baby: Head's Up
Your fetus weighs just under a pound at 10-11 ounces (300 g), and stands almost 7 inches (almost 18 cm) tall. She still has lots of space to move around in her amniotic bubble, but will begin to settle down toward the end of this trimester. Most babies get into a head-down position, but some don't flip until late in the last trimester. And some turn their heads down at first, only to summersault again later. I read this morning that the baby is the size of a large banana.

Update: So far Becky and Grandma Allen have felt the baby. Grandpa wasn't able because the baby decided to stop moving while I was sitting by him. It feels really weird. I can felt all kinds of stuff going on in there. I can't feel any hiccups, yet. Other than my allergies bothering me I feel great. I had my last run with Becky on Saturday. We went 40 minutes at Arnold Park and it was uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable the day before when I ran so that means no more running for me ) : I can still do the elliptical machine at the gym and walk for exercise. For those of you that love running you will understand why this is a bummer. I just don't feel like I am really exercising if I am walking. But, I will get over it don't worry.
The baby room is coming along. Shane is going to paint the dresser and he and my mom are making curtains for the closet and the widow. I will post pictures as soon as I have them.

Update 10/5/06
Shane can now feel the baby moving and either kicking or punching me. He first felt the baby last weekend. I am now able to feel the baby move around, like from one side to another. A few nights ago Shane and I were watching TV and my belly. The baby was all to one side or just sticking up more on one side, because the right side of my belly was sticking out further than the other side. It was weird. It almost feels like the baby is trying to pop out from my belly.
We have picked our hospital for sure. We are going to delivery at St. Luke’s. It is a wonderful hospital.
I hope that everyone is doing well.

Half way done. I can't wait to meet this kid. It seems like everyone that doesn't really care if it is a boy or girl seems to think I am carrying a boy. Now a few of my co-workers, some of my family and friends think it is a girl. That is because they want a girl. I have my next doctor’s appointment on Oct 23rd then Shane and I are going out for our 2-year anniversary, won't that be fun?
Your Baby: How Big Is The Baby?
The fetus now weighs approximately 9 ounces (255g) and measures about 6.5 inches (16 cm) long. Your baby's entire body may be covered by lanugo (soft hair), with a pasty substance called vernix protecting the skin. Both lanugo and vernix may be present in varying degrees at birth, with premature babies tending to have more. Other new developments this week include the appearance of tiny toenails, the first signs of scalp hair, and less transparent skin.

Announcement
On Wednesday September 20th I felt the baby move. I wasn’t 100% sure at first but it keeps happening so now I am sure. The baby moves mostly at night while I am watching TV or reading. I took a road trip this weekend with my husband and my parents and I felt the baby a lot during the 4-hour car trip. It almost tickles. Or maybe I am so excited that I just laugh when I feel it. Shane is still unable to feel the kicks and gabs from the outside, but that should start any day now. I still make him try ever night.
Also, we toured St. Luke’s Hospital last night and it was great. I kind of think we have found our hospital. But, we have not had our tour of St. John’s yet.
Check it out at

Week 19 (Next week I am half way done)

Your Baby: Covered From Head To Toe
This week, your baby-to-be weighs in at an impressive 7.5 - 8 ounces (225 g) and measures 6 inches (15 cm) in length. Lanugo -- fine, downy hair -- covers his skin and a white, waxy substance (vernix caseosa) protects it during its nine-month amniotic bath. Permanent teeth buds are taking shape behind the already formed milk teeth buds.
Your Body: Showing For Sure
At this stage your abdomen is definitely getting bigger as your uterus is growing up and out to make room for the baby! You may consider looking into childbirth classes now so that you can start learning and practicing some breathing exercises.
You may be starting to feel a little dizzy at times, or feel that your equilibrium is off. Although it can feel awkward at times, you have to get used to your center of balance changing. Also, dizziness is a common discomfort associated with pregnancy. The dizziness is a result of low blood pressure that may occur during pregnancy from all the changes that are going on inside your body. Sometimes the growth of the uterus puts pressure on your big vessels such as the aorta, and this usually happens when you lie down. It can also happen from standing up too fast and the blood leaves your brain quickly. It is best to get out of bed by sitting up and dangling your legs off the side first, then standing up.
On That Note: Time To Plan
Even if you aren't a gourmet cook, it's a good idea to spend some time in the kitchen during the next few weeks. Moms we know recommend that you make and freeze a few of your favorite dishes now, while your energy level is high and your hands are free. Then, when life gets a little more hectic down the line, all you'll have to do to get dinner on the table is fire up the microwave!

Attacked at the grocery store.
This morning I got up a little after 5 so that I could make it to the gym for a workout. I made it and while I was doing the elliptical machine I got a craving for hot chocolate. What a perfect day for a good cup of hot chocolate it is just starting to get cold outside and I am trying to stay away from coffee. I had plenty of time to run to a local grocery store by the gym. I walked in and was bombarded by Halloween Candy (Side note: Yesterday I got a major craving for some candy. I asked around work but no one had any candy. Luckily Shane and I had a tour of Missouri Baptist Maternity ward and I knew I would find candy at the gift shop. I had four piece of laffy taffy it was great.) Anyway they had sooo much candy it was unreal. It isn’t even October yet!!!!! I stayed strong and went the location where I thought the raisins were. I was wrong it was the bulk candy. I said to myself that is a better idea then a bag of candy, so I got a few piece of candy for later that day. I was on my way to the fresh fruit. In one of the coolers were fruit or vegetables should be was more CANDY. I kept right on moving. Then I walk past a cart of coffee cake with nuts. It looked so freaken’ good (at this point I realized I was very hungry and in trouble). Past the coffee cake were donuts. They all looked good. I wanted one so bad that I stayed there for a while thinking about it. Then I thought to myself “Why did I just do all of the exercising if I was going to blow it with one food”. I moved on past the Little Debbie cakes and the cookie dough. I did make it to the hot chocolate and bonus it was on sale. Then I was off to find cereal and raisins. Cereal is smartly placed by the candy (so that kids ask for candy when their parent go to get them cereal). I just looked away and pushed on. I had to ask an employee about the raisins because they were no place to be found. He said, “They are back by the produce”. He should of say “Go past the Little Debbie cakes and cookie dough, take a right at the donuts and coffee cake and go past the Halloween candy”. I had to go all the way back. Well this time I went around and pasted the deli and meat section. That wasn’t much better everything just looked so good.
I made it out of the store with everything on my list plus 3 cans of soup.

I am FREAKING out here people.
We had a party on Saturday and one of our guest thinks she saw a brown recluse in our garage!!!! So, I called the bug guy and set up an appointment. In the meantime I did a little research. I don't know how I will sleep tonight after reading this. I am considering moving to a non-bronw recluse spider state.
The bottom line!!!! There is nothing we can do.

PREVENTION
The best way to avoid a Brown Recluse bite is to eliminate them from your home. However, there are steps you can take to avoid being bitten if these spiders are in your home. One study in Missouri indicated that Brown Recluse Spiders were in 70% of homes they sampled. Being proactive is the best response to avoid being harmed by these spiders. Following the below precautions and having a Brown Recluse First Aid Kit on hand is the best form of defense.
Awareness
If Brown Recluse spiders are in your home, being aware of their habits and how most people are bitten can help you avoid being a victim. Most Brown Recluse spider bites occur when trapped between your skin and another surface. Click here to learn about the habits of the Brown Recluse spider. Here are some instances when bites have occurred:
When rolling over in bed !!!!!!!
When taking a bath or shower (spiders trapped within smooth surfaces of tub or shower)
When putting on clothing or shoes
When cleaning out closets
When emptying out boxes or containers that have been stored for a long length of time.
When gathering wood from a wood pile
When cleaning out garages, barns, sheds and other outbuildings.

Precautions
Check your bed before getting into it, especially if the bed has been unused for a while. Keep beds and cribs away from the wall. Remove bed skirts to reduce the chances of Brown Recluse spiders crawling in or on your bed.
Shake out your clothes before putting them on.
Avoid putting clothing on the floor when you go to bed at night.
Shake out your shoes before putting them on.
Wear gloves and long sleeved shirts when cleaning out or emptying closets, boxes or containers that are usually left undisturbed.
Wear gloves and long sleeved shirts when gathering wood from woodpiles, cleaning out garages, barns, sheds or other outbuildings.

Pesticides
Research conducted at Oklahoma State and Texas A&M Universities has confirmed that Brown Recluse spiders are tenacious and very difficult to kill with most insecticides. Treatment of Brown Recluse spiders with pesticides is usually ineffective unless directly sprayed on the spider. However, even something as simple as water can have the same effect when sprayed directly.
At one time it was thought that pesticides had a secondary benefit in that if you destroy the Brown Recluse's food, the Brown Recluse will need to go elsewhere to live. But more recent research at Kansas University indicates that Brown Recluses actually prefer dead insects over living ones 81.4% of the time and that improper applications of pesticides can actually increase Brown Recluse spider populations. They can safely eat prey that was killed by insecticides even 24 hours before. They will also eat prey partially eaten by other Brown Recluse Spiders and prey that had been dead for 2 months. Also, pesticides can actually kill spiders that prey on Brown Recluses. For this reason, spraying could potentially be counterproductive unless your exterminator is a professional that is very knowledgeable about Brown Recluse Spiders and a full Integrated Pest Management analysis is done. However, this can get quite expensive and they will not guarantee that they can fully exterminate Brown Recluse Spiders.

Glue traps
Most pest control companies agree and researchers at Kansas University confirm, Glue Traps (also known as Sticky Traps) are very effective for reducing Brown Recluse populations when the traps are set in places where Brown Recluses are commonly found. Ideal trap placement would be under beds, dressers and appliances, in corners, flat on the floor up against a wall near a window and behind or underneath furniture. University of Kansas researchers recommended 30-35 glue traps be set in the average sized three bedroom home with a garage. If you see Brown Recluse spiders on the trap, be careful when you pick up the glue boards. The spiders are immobilized by the glue, but the chances are good that they are actually still alive since they can live for 6 to 12 months without food or water.

Click here to order Glue Traps
The Shoe
Shoes are quite effective treatment for Brown Recluse spiders. One stomp and they will have no chance of biting anyone. However, you will need to be fast on your feet because they scurry very quickly . And, of course, make sure there are no Brown Recluse spiders inside your shoes before you put them on your feet!

Additional tips
Routine, thorough house cleaning with a vacuum will help eliminate spider egg sacs, spiders and webs. Dispose of the bag outside. However, normal house spider like the small cobweb weaving spiders you see in your house are the main predators of Brown Recluse spiders. For this reason, it may be best to leave them and their egg sacs alone.
Caulk or seal any cracks and crevices in the structure where the spiders exist. Chimneys, window sills, pipes, utility access holes and door thresholds are potential openings. Sealing off these areas will not only help keep insects (food for Brown Recluse's) from entering, but also keep outside populations of Brown Recluse spiders from entering your home after your attempts to eliminate their indoor population.
Install screens or replace damaged screens on doors and windows.
Remove potential breeding places like woodpiles, leaf litter, debris and rocks around your home.
Seal boxes and storage bags. Keep them away from a wall where possible.
Inspect clothing that is infrequently worn. Store them in sealed plastic bags or boxes when not in use.
Reducing clutter in your home will reduce the number of places they can hide. Undisturbed clutter in basements, attics, and closets are favorite Brown Recluse hiding spots.
Because Brown Recluse spiders usually start to come out of their hiding places after dark, that is one of the best times to do a search for them. They will usually not be too far from where they chose to hide during the day. Use a flashlight to hunt for them in poorly lit areas. When you find one, kill it with a broom or shoe and see if you can discover its hiding place. If you find it, seal it up.
Brown Recluse spiders are experts at hiding, thus the name "Recluse". They can be found in both new and old homes since they will often move with you. It is possible that in spite of all precautions, you will still have Brown Recluse spiders in your home. If you are bit, however, time is of the essence. This is why we have developed the First Aid kit for Brown Recluse spider bites.

I have to add the picture later. Sorry.

Your Baby: Did You Hear A Hiccup?
At about 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) in length and some 7 ounces (200 g) in weight, the fetus is growing fast and looking more and more babyish. During this week, your baby sense of hearing has become much more acute. The baby can hear noises within the uterus of your bowel moving and even the blood pumping within your vessels. Additionally, the baby can hear things outside the uterus. So if you are talking to your partner, the baby is hearing some sound. (You may even feel the baby get startled inside from noises that take place outside!)
Though you probably won't feel them at this early date, your baby may have the hiccups, which happens before fetal breathing movements become common.
Your Body: Undergoing An Ultrasound
If you're like most women, you'll have a routine ultrasound about now so your caregiver can get information on your baby's health. Though this brief (5 to 10 minutes) and painless test is most often done during the second trimester, it can be performed any time between the fifth week of gestation and delivery.
There are two types of ultrasounds: transvaginal and transabdominal. With both, you lie on your back on an exam table while your belly or a probe is lubed up with a special gel. A transducer (a small microphone-like device) is gently pressed on your belly or inserted into your vagina -- the method depends on how far along you are and what type of equipment is on hand. The transabdominal transducer is moved over your belly and it works by picking up the sound waves that come off the bones and tissues in the body at a higher frequency than we can hear. These sound waves then produce an image on a nearby computer screen. That image, which for some is crystal clear and for others a big blur, is your baby. Regardless, most expectant moms find this first glimpse thrilling -- and over all too quickly.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive test that provides a tremendous amount of information to your health care provider about your baby's development and health. Some of the things that can be seen by ultrasound include:
Determine an accurate gestational age of the baby
Determine sex of the baby
See any abnormalities that exist in the baby
Determine if it is just one baby or more than one
See the location of the placenta and the baby's position within the uterus
See the amniotic fluid levels
Watch how the baby's heart is beating and breathing movements

Here we are week #17. No matter what you think (Kathy) you can't tell the gender of the baby in these pictures. We get our big ultrasound next month. That is when the doctor measures everything to make sure the baby is growing normally.

Up top are all four shots we got.
The next one is a close up of the face. If you look you can see the eyes and nose. That baby is ready for Halloween.

Your Baby: More Than Meets The Eye
If you saw an ultrasound of your fetus right now, you'd spot a number of recognizable features. Your baby-to-be has thin eyebrows, hair on his scalp, and well-developed limbs. He's mastered a few simple reflexes, too -- sucking, swallowing, and blinking. Head to rump, the fetus measures 5 inches (12.7 cm) long and weighs approximately 6 ounces (170 g). Underneath the baby's skin, fat is forming. By the end of your pregnancy, this fat will account for 2% to 6% of the baby's weight and help maintain his body temperature at birth. At this age, your baby's hearing is pretty sharp. He can make out your conversations and may even be startled by loud noises! Whether you feel it or not, your baby is becoming very active, moving his head, arms, and legs, and making breathing movements.

I just found this picture while I was looking for some information. How cool it that? This is a 4 month old fetus (not mine).

Before Yellow

After. Shane is working hard to get the babies room done. I can't wait for everyone to see it.

Wednesday, September 06, 2006

Normally I run at my parent’s house so I have no idea how far I am running. I just go for 60 minutes and figure that is it between 5-6 miles. I know that I have slowed down since I got pregnant but I had no idea it was this bad... Last night I ran at Grant’s Trail I made it 4.5 miles and it took me 53 minutes. That is just about a 12-minute mile. I know it is great that I am still exercising but that was a little depressing.

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

The fetus measures 4.3-4.6 inches (12 cm) from crown to rump and weighs about 2.8 ounces (80 g). Despite its growing body, your fetus has plenty of room to move around within the uterus. You might actually start to feel it move about as its bones begin to harden and it flails about frequently. Its head is erect, its legs are now longer than its arms, and its limb movements are becoming more coordinated. Its fingers and toenails are constantly growing and are now well formed. If you're eager to find out the gender and you're due for an ultrasound, you may be in luck -- as long as the baby cooperates.

Can you believe how big that kid is getting. I am trying really hard each night while I lay in bed to feel the baby move around. I will let you know as soon as I do.
Our girl’s weekend was fun. I got back to St. Louis on Sunday night around 8:30. Monday I was taken hostage by the TV. I went over to my parent’s to meet my mom for a run/bike ride and I turned on USA and they were showing a Law and Order SVU marathon and I was hooked. I think I said until 3 in the afternoon. I wanted to leave I just couldn’t.
I hope that everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.
Back to work.

Road Trippen’
Becky and I are off this afternoon to lovely Springfield, MO to visit our RD friends. This group was formed while we attend the dietetics program at SMSU between 1996-2001. We all worked really hard together to make sure that we all succeeded in school. We spent MANY hours studying while other college kids watched TV or partied. We did all find time to run or exercise together. What an interesting mixture or cool-nerdiness. Anyway last year over the Labor Day weekend we all got together down in Springfield for a Girls Weekend (GW). Those with children left them with their families and partied it up. During that trip we instated a GW every Labor Day weekend. I can’t wait. We are going out for dinner tonight (more on that later) and Saturday we are all running together and then heading off to Becky’s parents’ lake house. Saturday day night has not been planned out but I know it will be fun. Then on Sunday we might get in a little shopping.
I will have plenty of pictures to post don’t worry about that.
Have a great and safe Labor Day weekend yourself.

Just a little brag on myself.
For the month of August a month that is both hot and sticky I exercised 22 days out of 31. Not to shabby for being 3 months pregnant.
<----- look at her go... Bare foot, pregnant and still running.

Monday, August 21, 2006

Welcome to week 14. At my last ultrasound the due date was pushed back to Feb 24th. (I know it is more like a due week or due time than a due date) We may have a March baby on our hands, watch out Nick and Brendan.

The fetus weighs in at 1 ounce (28 g), and measures almost 3 1/2 inches (8.9 cm) in length. Generally during this week, the fetus may start growing hair on the head and other places such as the eyebrows. If it is a girl, her ovaries already have eggs inside. For boys, this is when the prostate gland develops.

Do you feel like there are butterflies in your tummy? It may feel like butterflies, or it may feel like gas. Some mothers may feel fetal movement ( quickening ), though others may not be able to identify movement until around week 20. I will keep you all posted on this one.

This is from my last ultrasound on 8/17/06, what a change from the last one a month ago. If you can't read the little lables they say.
1. spine
2. eye socket (don't worry BW has two you just can't see the other one)
3.Possible a hand (I was worried because you can't see them, but I think those are fingers)
It all looks a little X-Files to me, I better call Fox.

Friday, August 18, 2006

I had an ultrasound yesterday but my buddy at work that scans them for me is on vacation. I guess you will all have to wait until Monday to see the little baby. The baby was moving his (I will randomly assign a gender when I feel like it, this does not mean anything) feet like he was moonwalking or something. We saw the arms once but you can’t see them in the picture so the baby looks armless. Trust me they were there a few weeks ago.

I had a crisp run this morning at a cool 60. It was awesome. I have said it before and I will say it again. If you can, you really should get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather with a walk, run or bike ride. Maternity clothes shopping wasn’t too bad. Thanks to Bride-to-be for joining me at Old Navy. They had a MUCH bigger selection than Target. Most of the clothes I got are more casual but some can be worn to work. I have my first maternity pants on today. They are a little big but I am going to get bigger so that is fine. They are so comfortable it is unreal. For the last two days I wore my regular pants and they fit for the most part. They were just tight in the belly area and really uncomfortable when I sit and I sit for 80% of the day. Also, a thank you to my sister-in-law (LE) for lending me several maternity pants. I think that I should be able to wear almost everything during some point.
We have our third doctor’s appointment Thursday I can’t wait. Look for new ultrasound pics on Friday.

Today starts week 13 we will call it the week my clothes got tight. I went through three outfits this morning before I found something that fit okay. I need to go clothes shopping, to be honest I really don't like to shop. Especially when I am getting bigger. This time I am going to try Old Navy.

Weighing approximately 0.5 to 0.7 ounces and measuring 3 inches (almost 8 cm) long, the fetus has plenty of room to grow inside your uterus. Initially, the eyes on the fetus are on the sides, but in this week they move to the front and appear closer together (to begin the makings of the face). Likewise in this week, the ears move to the proper position on the sides of the head.

Ocean’s Thirteen, now that is a movie that I can get excited about seeing.
Just a little picture from filming on Aug 7th.
I had another great run today. This morning I saw a bunch of turkeys in the field and yesterday I saw a fox hunting something on Dry Fork Rd. It was neat to see the fox because you just don’t see them that often. Every morning I wish I had my camera to take a picture and show everyone. But, I would hate to run with a camera.
I had to break down and buy some larger sized clothes yesterday. I now have a some jeans to wear for a while. By the way Target in Arnold has a very poor selection of maternity clothes. I am not even kidding alls they had were Gaucho and I am not skinny enough or tall enough to wear those.

It is now week 12 and this is what BW is looking like.

From crown to rump, the fetus measures 2.4 to 2.75 inches (6 to 7 cm long). Its tiny fingers and toes have are identifiable as separate entities with nails. Some hair is also seen at this stage. By now, almost all of the baby's organs and structures have formed and will continue to grow until delivery. The genitalia begin to show some differentiation in gender. The intestines are developing in the abdomen, and some movement of the muscles has started to develop and work to process food. The kidneys have begun to produce and excrete urine, and amniotic fluid starts to accumulate, helping your baby stay afloat.

A shout out to Bride to Be for a great dinner last night and tell MSU that my tummy is fine.

I just want to say I had the BEST run this morning. It was only 71 outside and no humidity. The flowers on the side of the road were beautiful.
The best part... my new shoes. I love the colors so much I took a pic to show you all.

If you can (like your knees don't hurt) and you don't you should really start running. Try walking or biking. Just do something outside it is such a beautiful world.

Lets hope for another great run on Wednesday.

Dust off your shoes and take a walk. It isn't too hot in the morning and the sunrise is beautiful.

Had a great weekend. Elaine came into town for a visit and we had a crazy weekend. First I planed a fun Friday night at my parents’ house watching my new favorite show The Dog Whisper. I could watch all day and the funny thing is I don’t really like dogs.

Then Saturday we came into my work for a while then hit the park for a warm run. After all of that activity I required a nap and so did Elaine. On our way home I introduced Elaine to the glorious Crystal Light Slurpee, which was really a cruel thing to do because they don’t have 7-elevens in Springfield. Then we hit the Ruby Tuesdays for a healthy salad. Sad to say they changed the menu and decreased the selection of the salad bar. I guess my dad won’t be eating there biweekly anymore. We stopped by Block Buster to see what they had. To my surprise Elaine said she watched the show Medium and would be interested in renting season 1. I did live with Elaine for 5 years and I remember she didn’t like scary movies or shows. Apparently she likes the ghost stuff just not violence. We watched three shows in the dark basement and I have to say I turned the lights on when Elaine went upstairs.

Then Sunday some serious lying around in bed just talking and catching up. I had a great time!!!! After Elaine left for her 4-5 hour drive (will highway 44 ever be finished?) I went to my parents’ house to use their TV and visit with them. They have cable and we don’t and I knew the Dog show would be on. I watched for like 3 hours. The best part of my weekend was picking my husband up from the airport after his trip. I am very glad that he got home safely.

I knew I liked Justin. This is at least the second time that we have dressed alike.

I think I saw something is morning!!!! A little bump. It was confirmed when I got to work today and asked around. Yes I am starting to look pregnant.
I don’t care who knows I have already gained 2 more pounds than I should. We can blame the extra weight on Chef at work. He put a large piece of turtle cheesecake in front of me yesterday. It would of been rude not to eat it, so I did. Don’t worry I didn’t finish all of it. But, I am exercising almost daily so I don’t feel too bad. I would rather gain an extra 10 pounds when all is said and done than have morning sickness.

I don’t want a TV in our bedroom and for the most part Shane agrees with me. But, every once and a while he takes the other side (he is a Gemini) and starts campaigning for a TV in our room. (A wise woman once told me the bedroom is only for two things sleeping and other stuff- thank you BM). Our new house has a guest room with a full bed and we just got a new TV from Shane’s sister. Shane had the great idea to put the TV in the guest room that way if we wanted to watch Saturday Night Living in bed we could and we still would not have a TV in our bedroom. Shane hooked up the TV last night and this is what I came home to at 9:40pm Monday.

Introducing Baby Weatherholt. It is official I am pregnant. This Monday will be 11 weeks and I can’t wait any longer to tell everyone. I know that a few people already know but now the word is out… I am knocked up. (What a funny way to say you are pregnant). This is our second ultrasound from 7-20-06. If you know what you are looking at you might see a head at the top and the body. Sticking out from the bottom of the body is a leg. The baby was moving around it was the COOLEST thing ever. We saw and heard the heartbeat so all is well. I am due the end of February (20th or 21st). Now I will have a ton of stuff to post on my blog. So far I have only got nauseous a few times two in an airplane and one shopping with my husband. Other than that I am extremely tired. I could take a nape at the drop of a hat. Just ask my mom, we went to Florida together in the beginning of July and I slept more than anything else. It was a great trip. Also, I am pretty hungry most of the time. I don’t really crave anything it is just that everything sounds so good. I have been eating way more meat than I normally do. All of my friends and family are getting a big kick out of my new eating habits. I have to admit I have been a little crabbier than normal. I just don’t have the patients that I use to with just about anyone. We are not going to find out the sex of the baby so we will be referring to the baby as BW for Baby Weatherholt. The only other groups that need to be told are my parents’ friends and my family (uncles, aunts and cousins). I will keep you posted.

I was surfing the web today looking for 7-eleven's website so I could write them a letter. I wanted to thank them for the Crystal Light Slurpee. I am loven it!!!!! Very low in calories and a cool treat it is perfect for this time of year. While I was on their website I clicked on new products and I can't believe what I found a P'EatZZA. Look at this thing. I guess there is someone out there that would enjoy this. I say eat up it keeps me and my dietitian buddies in business.

P'EatZZa Sandwich
Pizza and a deli sandwich - it's a marriage made only in 7-Eleven heaven. The new P'EatZZa™ sandwich, (pronounced Puh-Eat-Zuh) is the first of its kind and debuts in stores April 18.
It brings together a combination of pizza, deli meats and flavorful fixings into one delicious sandwich that tastes great for lunch or any time of day. 7-Eleven designed the new sandwich and packaging so it's easy to eat on the go -- there's no need to heat it, just grab one and enjoy.
P'EatZZa comes in two varieties: a mouth-watering turkey and pepperoni on pepperoni flatbread with parmesan ranch spread and romaine lettuce; and a flavorful and zesty ham and salami on cheddar mozzarella flatbread with banana and red peppers, oil and vinegar dressing and romaine lettuce.
Look for a Greek-style salad on mozzarella cheese and parsley flatbread with peppers, onions and mushrooms coming to your favorite 7-Eleven store on May 22.
For $3.89 or less this winning combo is a real deal!

Hot and Dark are two words that describe my work situation right now.
A storm came through St. Louis Wednesday night and whipped up the city. Down south we had to go to the basement for about 15 minutes and we only had a few limbs down. When I got to work Thursday morning we only had partial power. It went like this lights yes, A.C. no, cooler no and freezer no. We still had four clients come in for food and they took home canned goods only. We found a refer truck (refrigerated truck) that could run on the lot and keep the cooler food cold so we wouldn’t lose that. The freezer is okay as long as it is not opened for a while. It got hot in the office real fast and we were out of there around 1:30 after we sweated about 3 gallons loading up the truck.
Friday I wore short and a tank top in to work. I was 99% sure we would still be out of electric. (No houses near us) Well, I was right. It was even hotter in the building and it had a stale odor. Some people left while other scratched their heads, what to do. When it looked like another storm was headed our way we decided to call it a day. On my way home my car was blowing around on the highway. I could really feel it moving it was pretty scary. I made it to my parents to take a wonderful nap. It was been an interesting and sweating two days. It is great to see the staff at my work pull together and get the job done. I love my job.

My house almost looks like a home. I got home last night and even though I fixed dinner I still had a little energy to clean. I put away books, vacuumed, and made up the bed in the guest room. Shane worked all night putting up pictures and cleaning the basement. When we were done it felt like a house. Don’t get me wrong we still have a ton to do, but at least it is starting to feel like a house. I will post a few pictures Thursday.

I saw Strangers with Candy and I loved it. I guess it could have been funnier but you could say that about anything. I would see it again and I might buy it when it comes out.

I ask you this.
What kind of doctor calls you on Friday at 3:30 and leave a message asking you to call him back and doesn’t say that he won't be back in the office for almost a week. He doesn’t say "oh it is no big deal just give me a call." I don’t want to be mad at him he is a nice guy. I guess no matter how nice they are they forget sometime the power a doctor has over his patients. I am guessing the message isn’t about anything big, but still I have lost sleep wondering what he called for.
