Stupid Calories

Okay so I stopped nursing Sam 7 weeks and I am truly missing the calorie burn of nursing a baby. Before I quite I could pretty much eat and drink anything I wanted and my weight was great. Now it is slowly but surely catching up with me. I don’t like it at all. I guess I will have to adjust, but I do miss eating and drinking any and everything.

The weather was PERFECT and I felt great for my RACE on Sunday. I ran 10 minute miles for a finish time of 2 hours and 11 minutes. I know that I could or ran about 2 hours and 7-8 minutes but there were too many (stupid) people in the race. That’s right I said stupid. The race officials ask that when you line up to start you stand by the sign that shows about how fast you are going to run the race. That being said one would think that walkers would start about 12-13 minutes per mile not 9 minutes! I can’t believe how many walkers I passed with in the first 3 miles. I was and am pissed!!!! They clog up the race for people trying to make a good time. Here are my suggestions to GO St. Louis.
1. Give walkers a different color bib.
2. When they pick up their packet with bib number they should be told that they MUST start behind the 11 minute mile marker (I think that is generous, it should be more like 12 minutes).
3. Remind them not to walk in rows of more than two people other wise they make it hard to pass.
4. Remind them to walk on the right side of the track. Just like slow cars should stay to the right so should slow people.

All and all it was a great race. I just think I am done with races that size. I am going to go for smaller venues where I can spread out and run. I got to see Shane and Sam two times. Sam had a great time clapping for all of the runners. Shane said she loved it. Then we were treated to a great breakfast with my parents. Sam had a bite of biscuits and gravy.

Spaghetti

Thursday, March 20, 2008

New trick.

I let Sam feed herself spaghetti last night and I thought it was so cute that I should take a picture. When started to take her picture she stopped eating and smiled or tried to smile for picture. Her smile looks almost painful and her one eye is closed more than the other. I think she looks beautiful.

Who knew it was so expensive to be in shape. I waited to see if my body could handle running long distances so the price for the St. Louis ½ marathon was $65. Part of me feels bad spending the money but, how many concerts and base/football games has Shane gone to.
April 6th my first mommy ½ marathon.

I try not to use this word to often but let me tell you what I HATE. When bad things happen to good people! I guess that all life is precious but it really doesn’t seem fair for something bad to happen to someone (medically) that is a great and wonderful person. While there are really bad people (murders, rapist and pedophiles) that run around healthy as a horse. (for privacy reasons this person will remain nameless, please don’t think it is anyone in my family, luckily we are all doing well)

34 days to go!!!!!

Monday, January 14, 2008

For the first time since about September 2006 Becky and I ran together outside. It was great!!!!! We ran a surprisingly easy 4 miles at Arnold Park on Sunday during the football games. I have been running on a treadmill in the morning while the baby sleeps but the treadmill is just not the same. We are going to run again next weekend, weather and baby permitting.

34 more days to go on the BF count down. I can’t wait. It looks like I might have more formula than I need to make it till February 18th and I still have frozen breast milk left.

Sam walking ( a little)

Sorry you have to turn you head.

I am excited to share that I am currently 6 pounds lighter then I was at my first prenatal visit last June. I have 3 more pounds to go before I reach my goal weight. Some of you may think “3 pounds that is nothing”. But, these are the hardest 3 pounds for me to loss and keep off. I know that weight loss is hard for everyone! For me the closer I get to my goal weight the harder it is.
PS I ran again this morning.

Count down to B-Day.
No, not my birthday, but boob day. Today marks the start of my weaning count down. That is right I am still breast feeding. You may be remembering a blog were I announced I was done with breastfeeding. During the weaning process Sam started showing more interest in nursing so I picked it back up. When it comes to nursing the baby gets what the baby wants. Anyway….. today marks 40 days until I am done. I know it would make a little more sense to start the count down at 30 days but I am just too excited to wait. I know that part of me will miss the bonding that nursing brings a mother and child but the freedom will be exhilarating….. I can go anywhere and do anything without worrying out pumping or being with Sam to feed her. I won’t have to plan my morning, evenings or weekends around breastfeeding!!!!! I am just sooooo excited, if you can’t tell.
